Mouth of Ship Builders Creek | Eyer Property

Ship Builders CreekShip Builders Creek is located at the northern section of the reservation and drains into the Hood Canal. The mouth of this creek has been partially filled at some point in the past and more recently paved over and armored to provide parking. There is a possibility that the fill used at this location could have come from a contaminated source since nearby is a large industrial area, the Port Gamble Mill site. It is proposed that the armoring and pavement be peeled back so the fill underneath can be tested. It is important to keep some available parking at this site to provide elder tribal members access to the paralleling beaches to harvest shellfish. Due to this we would like to eventually remove some, but not all, of the paved area and restore the mouth of this creek.
