S'Klallam Tribal Center
The departments of the tribal government have a reputation for integrity and stability. They provide a wide array of government administration and services to community residents. In 1992 the Tribe became one of the first Self-Governance tribes in the United States and has assumed control of its BIA and IHS programs. Under Self-Governance, the Tribe has been able to dramatically improve and expand programs and services. Other "firsts" include the first tribal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program in Washington, the first TANF Tribe in the state to operate a federally funded child support program, an award winning health clinic and an acclaimed dental clinic.
As of April 4, 2011, Tribal Government has divided into two branches: Tribal Government Administration and Tribal Government Services. Organized within Tribal Government Administration are the following departments:

Mission Statement
The mission of the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe is to exercise sovereignty and ensure self-determination and self-sufficiency through visionary leadership. We will ensure the health, welfare and economic success of a vibrant community through education, economic development, preservation and protection of the rich culture, traditions, language, homelands and natural resources of
our Tribe.
