Tribal Executive Office The tribal government has a long established commitment to governmental and economic self-sufficiency, and a reputation for integrity and stability. It provides a wide array of general government services to community residents. In 1992 the Tribe became one of the first Self-Governance tribes in the United States and has assumed control of its BIA and IHS programs. Under Self-Governance, the Tribe has been able to dramatically improve and expand programs and services. In 2003 a Comprehensive Land Use Plan was approved by the Tribal Council. It features the Reservation setting; cultural, historical, and population profiles; the governance and economic setting; land use goals; land use analysis and policies by area; and identifies an implementation plan. Also, starting in 2002, all tribal departments prepared a five year strategic plan and update it on a yearly basis.Thoughtful planning provides the foundation to be ready for the future.
