The purpose of the Family Assistance Program is to provide collaborative services to the benefit and safety of Tribal Families and community members. These services will be provided in such a way as to protect children and elders, maintain the dignity and independence of our clients and to preserve the culture, values, and traditions of the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe.

Services offered:

  • Tribal Family Assistance Program: cash assistance for very low-income families, self-sufficiency assistance to help low income families continue to work
  • LIHEAP (Power Assistance) NO LIHEAP AT THIS TIME & LIHWAP (Water Assistance) -for Kitsap County PGST Tribal residents only ROUND 1 NOW OPEN Click here for application 
    • LIHEAP model is available for review year round, please contact Family Assistance Program Manager for copy. Contact information is available below.
    • Please send any comments you may have for the model plan to Family Assitance Program Manger via email.
  • DSHS Customer Service at 877-501-2233 - washingtonconnection.org.
  • Food Bank - available to anyone for porch pick or on reservation can request delivery.
  • Emergency Food Vouchers ARE AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW.
  • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
  • TRIBAL UTILITIES PROGRAM
    (Energy Assistance)
    The Tribal Utilities Energy Assistance Program will start on Monday, August 29th, 2022.
    This program is open to any family who lives on the Port Gamble S’Klallam Reservation and to Port Gamble S’Klallam families living off the reservation who have a Puget Sound Energy Bill. PSE electric bill will be paid $100 for the household. This will be on a first come first served basis, but funds are limited, so once funds are exhausted no additional funds will be spent.
    • You will need to provide a Puget Sound Energy bill with a current and active account at your current residential service address on the Port Gamble S’Klallam reservation OR, for off the reservation, the name on the account must be a Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal member in order for it to be paid through this program.
    • There will be a short request form available in the Family Assistance Program hallway of the Children & Family Services Building starting on 8/29/22 and online at www.pgst.nsn.us in the CFS Family Assistance program section.
    **There is some processing time involved and we cannot guarantee that notices for immediate payment will be satisfied by a pledge to PSE. Please make sure to note any additional questions or needs with regards to special circumstances with your PSE account.**
    ***PSE will NOT discuss your account with staff without prior approval/request.***
